I have presented music programs to young children since 2013. Through the years I felt that something was missing, that there must be other ways of teaching music. I started doing research on teaching methods in relation to music. What I discovered was that most music programs for kids don’t really teach music; they use music as a tool to aid the overall development of the child.

After being introduced to Colourstrings I was overwhelmed and amazed by their approach to music. Specifically, the way they introduce music to children. With POCO TOTS we would like to alter the ‘usual’ approach and methodology. Developing basic motor skills will be a secondary outcome. We want to focus on music. This program will teach children the different aspects of music in small logical steps. We aim to ensure that they understand basic musical concepts. Singing is the centre of our program. Singing is deeply personal because your voice is an internal instrument. Everything learned through singing is learnt more deeply and thoroughly because you are the instrument, therefore, you are more directly involved in the learning process. With my experience I have seen that children learn better, understand better and enjoy being taught more, when they are part of the music. In other words, when using their whole bodies and their senses.

I am very proud of this program and I look forward to making you part of this musical journey as we sing and learn together.
